Interview Time
Once in an interview, when asked how he developed an interest in the javelin, he gave a brilliant answer.
"As an obese child, at the age of 11, I weigh 80 kg. To get fit, I went to Panipat Stadium on holiday. My pocket money was around 30 rupees and for many days I did not have money even for a glass of juice. I traveled about 17 km by bus to reach the stadium and returned with my uncle, who worked in Panipat city. Although I was running to lose weight, I did not particularly enjoy it. I stood at a distance to see my senior Jaiveer, who has represented Haryana in the javelin, still practicing today. One day at his behest, I tried the spear. I learned that I could throw it this far and that realization helped me regain myself—steam."
